Our Story Ghana
African Enterprise (AE Ghana) was established in 1995 under the leadership of Rev Gottfried Osei-Mensah with a noble mission to evangelize the cities of Ghana and neighboring countries. Since the establishment of AE Ghana, it has been Led by passionate individuals, including Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku, who served as the first Team Leader, from 1995 to 2009.

During his tenure of leadership, the organization made significant strides in fulfilling its mandate. For instance, in 1997, AE Ghana held its first City-wide Mission in Accra, which resulted in a significant number of people being won over to the Kingdom of God.

The organization's commitment to reaching out to the marginalized is evident through the Commercial Sex Workers Project, which was launched after AE Ghana reached out to prostitutes during the 1998 Kumasi mission.

In 2010, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante took over the leadership mantle as the Team Leader. He served in that capacity for four years. His contributions to the success of the organization is unmeasurable. He led the organization to reach out to historic cities such as Jamestown, Sekondi, Nkwakaw, Kasoa and Mankesim. He injected more ideas into AE Ghana’s social intervention projects.

Claimed for Christ

1963-1971

Our History

As a young South African man, just 21 years old, Michael Cassidy had a heart for his people and felt the Lord calling him to city-evangelism in Africa. During the summer of 1961, he set out on an exploratory visit to 31 major cities of Africa, a trip in which God’s vision for Michael became clear. On a long walk on the beach, Michael drew an outline of Africa in the sand and wrote “Claimed for Christ” inside it. His experience is recounted in the book African Harvest: “He wrote in his diary; ‘I asked God for 50 years of ministry in Africa.’”

Graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1963, Michael returned to South Africa with a small team and his work began. The first city-wide mission was held in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and from there the work expanded slowly across the continent. A second team was established in Ghana in 1971 under the leadership of Bishop Festo Kivengere. Today AE has teams in twelve African countries: Ghana, Ghana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Zambia.
